Re: Need your insights
I had a very good steak dinner at Besh Steakhouse recently. It is inside the casino, but we asked to be seated in the back of the dining room so noise was not a factor. I had a less than enjoyable dining experience at the Ruth's Chris which is also affiliated with the casino. I love La Boca's steaks...

Re: Last Minute Recs for Bay St. Louis, Gulfport Area
Shaggy's is right on the beach in Pass Christian. It is very casual, outdoor dining, but their food is surprisingly good. If you want more upscale, the owners of Shaggy's just opened up a restaurant across the street called French Charley's . I have been wanting to go there, but haven't made it. Al...

Re: Teaching kids to beg
I don't find it hard to believe at all that these professional beggars make 50 grand. So there are a couple of things I truly insist upon if I am going to support these bums: First the sign. I mean they need to have a good sign. Not some crappy old worn out sign that has been used for days. And seco...

Jerry, they would not likely honor the gift certificate. This restaurant is a brand new restaurant that is occupying a building that another restaurant once occupied. They are not affiliated at all.

Re: Teaching kids to beg
Amen. But even more revolting is when young people farm out the old people to beg on the corner. I have witnessed healthy twenty somethings pull up to a corner and park. They sit with their doors open smoking cigarettes and send grandpa to the corner to beg. This happened right at the corner of Poyd...

Re: Gershwin Prize event at White House: A really big night for Sir Paul McCartney
I am so sick of this White House celebrity obsession. Can the Obamas agree to forgo their impulse to schmooze with the rich and famous until this gushing oil well is capped? Remember when Condoleeza Rice was booed out of a theater in NY after Katrina for what was perceived as her cavalier attitude? ...

What about that little place called French Press on Williams? I have never been there but it looks nice. It may be just a coffee shop. I don't know.

Re: Portland, Oregon Food?
We went to Portland a few years ago for vacation and would have had a lot more fun had our trip been three days shorter. There is a fabulous restaurant called VQ or Veritable Quandary near the Marriott on the river. We ate there quite a few times during our trip and never had a bad meal or a bad dis...
Re: Bagels
You should go to Stein's for bagels. I buy bagels there every week for my family and they are all addicted. Cold bagels that are partially baked sell for only $1. I bake them for ten minutes in a 350 degree oven and they are wonderful. I'm not sure, but I think they get their bagels shipped in from ...

Yikes! I just realized that the winery with the beautiful garden is Ferrari Carano in Sonoma. We visited Markham as well, but it is in Napa.
