Parkway

Group: I tried having lunch at Parkway today. It's Wednesday and the special is the best Cuban sandwich in town IMHO. Unfortunately, they have abolished all specials and gotten rid of the good Chicago hot dogs as well. The bartender told me "we're so busy now that we don't need to run specials ...

Re: Bouche Wine Bar?

The menu is very, very "modern" southern. It looks like a menu or two I've seen when visiting family in Atlanta. It sounds good. It would, if actually good, fill a niche in which I'm not sure we have many contenders.

Re: Jazz Fest food -- the good, the bad, the usual?

Now that you live here, I suspect you will be in the same boat as the rest of us locals, who don't really care much about the food at Jazz Fest. It is mostly pedestrian and nothing you can't find any day of the week, nearby. Jazz Fest food is a tourist thing. Not saying I don't partake if the lines...

Cleopatra

Group: I have some business on the Best Bank today so I'm going to break bread over there. I'm strongly leaning toward Cleopatra on Manhatten in Harvey. I've heard it's good and I haven't been. I should be there not long after noon. Anyone been?

Huh? Is there info you were trying to convey? I'm a bit thick this morning.

Re: Laurel Street Bakery

A couple of years ago I was leaving the bookstore around the corner and stopped and got a lemon bar. It was really good. That's my only visit.

Interesting for Italian Food Lovers

Group: Ian from Gambit wrote up Jackson on Magazine today. I agree with what he said. I'm fond of the place. One thing struck me from the review. Here's how he put it: "Italian gets a turn too, courtesy of gnudi, the tender ricotta dumplings recently seen at A Mano, though done better here with...

Re: Crescent Pie and Sausage Company

I'm glad you had a good meal. BAM- are you actually sure they're open for lunch? I've tried twice and failed. No sign or anything, just chairs up on tables, etc.

If it's worth a third try up in Mid City I'll give it a go. I've just been fooled twice before.

I've had the mac on a stick. Surprisingly good. I ordered it a second time. Still good. Not something I'd do every day but once in a while?
