There's a show on Animal Planet, airing today and tomorrow, with a more complete telling of the story of Christian the Lion. Worth watching. He wasn't quite completely returned to "the wild" as the video implies, and the reunion shown is only a year after his owners, who bought him as a cub at Harrod's in London in the 60s, put him in the care of the guy who inspired the movie "Born Free", in Kenya. A subsequent reunion, a year after the first, and also documented on film, would prove to be the last time Christian's original owners or his keeper in Kenya would ever see him. Even though a product of several generations of zoo breeding, it is believed that Christian ultimately did come to thrive as wild lion.
