The president's bail-out plan was voted down this morning. Now what?
I'm serious... what is this going to mean to us... those of us who work, pay taxes, own our homes?
The stocks we have tanked quite a while ago, so that's not worrying me - just hoping that someday they will rebound and be worth something to.... oh... maybe my grandchildren? I don't have any mortgages....
Now what? Another depression?

Just hang in there! The politicos want everything to look bad bad bad for the election, but there is a good possibility everything will blow up in their faces.
Pillozzi (sp doesn't matter, she's pond scum) is screeming the bill was defeated because of the Republicans. The drive by's are agreeing with her.
But it doesn't take mensa member to know that the Dem's are the majority in congress, and that when you count names in the vote today..... 40% of the Dem's voted against!!!!! :whip:
I am not thrilled. My 401K and my stock portfolio took a big hit today. What really pisses me off is that these legislators are going to take two days off of work now.
Does anyone know how Scalise voted on this?

I have been worried and keeping up with all this. I haven't been completely freaked out but pretty close. I haven't gotten completely pissed off until today when I heard they were off until Thursday due to a holiday break. Do I get the week off too? They could work all weekend, but they can't work now that it didn't pass? whatthe****ing****?

My and wife's IRA's and Roths took biggest hit ever. But we are hanging in.
The panic selling today that caused the 777 point drop wasn't the pro's, wasn't the giant portfolio managers. It was the "Joe Day Traders", with their get rich quick computer programs, set to trigger sell orders when any investment sank 5 or so percent. The pro's will be buying tomorrow. The get rich quick types will be crying the blues.

I got to work this AM and and called our one Jewish employee to see if he was here. He was. Main Street is at work, Wall Street is at work and even Bush is at work, but no Congress.
Absolutely pitiful!!!

justagirl, I hope you kept your cool last night. Today is another day, a day when the politicos are "goofing off". Don't think for one minute that the majority of congress is observing the Jewish Holiday. :covri:
With the :crap: disturbers out of the picture for the day, the Market came bouncing back in great and typical fashion.:laughup::laughup:
The DJIA is up +485.21!.......(4.68%)
The NASDAQ is up +98.60!...(4.97%)
The S & P 500 is up +58.32!..(5.27%)
The smart investors, who didn't panic sell yesterday, are making smart buys today and the prices are going back up.

We did take the hit yesterday, and bounced back today. I would like to see the market correct itself. The mistake behind the bill was cvalling it a bailout bill. It should not be a governmental takeover of failed mortgage paper. What should be done is to lend money to these trouble investment baks, giving them soome capital to invest and do what they do, make money. then, they could repay the goverment loans. This is a win-win.
I just grabbed some shares of Regions Bank.
It seems the Senate has something planned for tomorrow night. As soon as the grand Rabbi signals the end of Rosh Hashanah. We'll see.

justagirl keeps her cool, not too worry. I'm too young to worry about my stocks now anyway. Well, not that I don't worry but I'm not going to retire anytime soon, so my long term investments are ok.
If I hear Pilosi and the party's over sound bite one more time I might not keep my cool. Stupid beaotch wanted to create the party now she wants it to be over, yeah, listen to people smarter than you for once you dumb broad. Sorry, I just really can't stand her.

I do not care for her myself! She is probably the worst speaker the House has ever had, and that would explain some of the reason that the congress has a single digit approval rating.
I would urge all of you to call your senators today and voice your opinon. I spoke with Mary Landriue's office this morning and the callers are 99% against the bill. I would call whether your in favor or not.

Here's something to think about: Nancy Pelosi is only two heartbeats away from the Presidency. Robert "KKK" Byrd is three heartbeats away.
Sleep tight.

I am aware, but I try not think about it.

I'm not calling my congessmen because I don't think they, or me, really knows what to do about this mess.
But I guess they have to do something even if it's wrong....or the stock market may get chooped off at the kness Monday.:shootself:
