I have a two year old Systemax (made in USA) PC, pentium processor, with Microsoft Windows XP Professional.
When turning off the system:
1) I click start
2) I click the little red button Turn Off Computer
3) Then a little blue window in the middle of the screen appears with Standby - Turn Off - Restart buttons.
4) I click Turn Off, and after several moments of system data crunching, it turns off.
Since I got the computer this has worked fine. For the last month, 50% of the time it works fine. The other 50% it acts as if I pushed the Restart button, going through the complete turn off procedure, and then restarting from scratch. Once it comes up to the "windows ready" screen I can do the same shutdown steps down above, and this time it will work and stay off.
Any thoughts?
