I don't know if any of you stayed up for this, but this was absolutely a terrific basketball game, well worth making a pot of coffee and scrambling some eggs at halftime in order to make it through the second half. Spain played an incredible game, Navarro who is essentially the third string point guard was unstoppable. He kept getting around CP3 and dropping in a running floater. Dwayne Wade stepped up huge for the Americans. And you know if I am rooting for Kobe Bryant, it must be important.

Coach K is without a doubt the best basketball coach in the world. If Team USA had George Karl or Don Nelson or some recycled NBA retread coaching them, they absolutely would have lost this game. Coach K did his best Joe Torre impression, a calm, composed presence on the sideline.

This team had a huge hole in the middle. Dwight Howard couldn't guard Marc Gasol to save his life. That will be corrected in London when Greg Odeon mans the middle for Team USA.

Even though it is too early to project, I think the 2012 team will be much better than this one. Consider, Carmelo Anthony, CP3, Deron Williams, Lebron, Howard, Bosh are only going to get better. DWade will only be 30. Odeon, Kevin Durant, Michael Beasley and Brandon Roy will be joining the program with the first three greatly improving our frontcourt depth. Kobe and Tayshaun Prince will be the old men of the group. I really can't see how the 2012 won't be better.

I stayed up & watched the whole game & medal ceremony. It was a great game. I think there was entirely too much Jason Kidd last night. He was definately the weak link on the team. The entire team did represent the USA very well. Much better than 4 years ago.

Eggs, hell man I made another cocktail @ halftime.

I watched live and enjoyed it very much. I was also drinking cocktails, not coffee. Slept real late Sunday, though (what else was there to do?).
