"It is a travesty that a local group of 50 community leaders is holding a banquet on August 22 to mark the 3rd anniversary of Katrina and will be giving Ray Nagin an “Award of Distinction for Recovery, Courage and Leadership.” This committee must be kidding right? Unfortunately, they are serious about their plans to honor Ray Nagin."

From what I understand¨: PROTEST DETAILS:

DATE: FRIDAY, 8.22.08

PLACE: IN FRONT OF RITZ CARLTON

TIME: BE THERE AT 6:30PM, EVEN THOUGH Nagin "Award Banquet" is 7 - 11 pm. 6:30pm allows time to meet and greet media representatives and tell them how the 99% of the tax payers really feel about the lack of recevery and the Mayor´s somewhat intentionally obstructive attitude and total lack of leadership...

SIGNS: Welcome

DON´Ts: Don´t do anything stupid and get arrested, this is suppose to be a non-violent prouctive and informative "tell the world" about Nagin and Nola´s struggles 3 years post Katrina.

It appears a large group is now vowing to attend...

I think we need a review of the do's and don'ts of proper protesting.

I think it's great that a conservative like Crouere says New Orleans would be a lot further along in its recovery if Landrieu had been elected and that Nagin's election was a mistake the city is going to be paying for for years to come.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

It would be very difficult to argue with this post!

PNG, you need to supply those folks with your protesting and assembly instructions.

That is a great thought, but I do believe that this level of idiocy demands more drastic measures.

Torches and pitchforks?

A little more drastic than that, but something that cannot be printed just in case it actually happens. Good thought though.

I cannot believe nagin has the nerve to take the award that is so much more deserved by blakely the recovery czar. Blakeley completely rebuilt the city and did away with 99.9999% of crime too. He should be livid about this travesty. I hope that he can get back from whichever Carribean island he is relaxing on in time to stop nagin from taking that award.

Can't we compromise? Blakely could receive the recovery award, and Nagin could be recognized for his efforts in fostering racial understanding and harmony.

That's cool. The city is fixed, that is the main thing.

The funniest thing is that on Channel 6 news last night (after the prime time Olympic broadcast), they said the two named primary sponsors were someone whose name I forget and "Bernardo", mayor Nagins perosnl photographer.

Personal photographer? What the hell is that about? I might expect his holiness, the chosen one, the one for whom we have all bneen waiting, BH Obama, might have a personal photographer, by C Ray Nagin, come one.

Do the taxpayers pay fort his personal photographer? does he follow ther mayor around all the time? Is he worth of going by only one name?

Got that right, PNG. I'm surprised Ray and his posse could even find the hotel, what with all those cranes in the sky obscuring the view...:D

Apparently, there was an anti-party out on the street. I think I see some people from the Krewe du Vieux there. Sorry I missed it.
