Dear Eddie,

We understand. They all do it! Every politician. Some take money, some play the ladies, some partake in lapdances, some freeze money, some slap womens upside the head...but we understand. We will vote you back into office! Heck, you just got inaugrated! Lets wait and see how well you do this term. You also deserve to be our Parish President! You are a trooper. No other man would wade in water above his ankles carrying a wrench to turn off our citizen's utilities.

God bless you Eddie! You are the TOPS!

Drive carefully and have a
Merry Christmas!
See you at the Doll and Toy Fund Drive!

John Q. Idiot

p.s.: Have you talked to your good friend Speedy Bopp recently? Hope he is doing well!

For a good laugh, you need to read page 54 & 55 of the audit report that has Buelle's responses to the probe. Hilarious.

Wait a second, I thought only Democratic minorities in New Orleans were corrupt. Confusing.

No, Bro.

They're everywhere.
Everywhere elections are held.

Anyone even remotely interested in public office is, or will be, corrupt.
Period.

Worse than heroin, meth, or crack.

Political Office--the ultimate addiction.

One day someone or some judge is really going to make an example of one of these crooks.

Eddie feels it is not in the best interest of Mandeville for him to resign. This man should be evaluated for mental competency.

Resign Eddie!!

He also said the trips to play golf at Pebble Beach every year since 03 were all ok because he was checking out architecture and public facilities. LOL!

I just read the full article in todays paper and I want to think this is funny, but all of these shannigans probably happen alot more than we care to imagine at local levels of gov.
The part that pisses me off the most is the general apathy of the people. Price could run for mayor next week and win easily.

The last company I worked for was a gov. contractor for the Navy. I was in procurment and the policy set by the company was that we could accept absolutely nothing. Vendors could not even buy us a hamburger. One day a vendor showed up at the gate without warning to bring a buyer a few dozen doughnuts and we had to get approval to accept the goods and the vendor received a warning to never do it again.

Meanwhile the VP's of the company could golf with suppliers and the higher ups at the Navy(who steered much of the work to certain vendors) had no problem participating in golf and dinners, etc.

My expense accounts have always been at my discretion for the most part. The clients do put restrictions on us for giving gifts to their employees though. Some allow no gifts whatsoever.

Mandeville voters should initiate recall procedures, but you are right about the apathy. I set up a sight to recall my local rep and only got two volunteers, yet numerous people voted in the poll that they would sign a petition. I guess taking a pen to paper is one thing, but getting out and knocking on doors is just too much to go through to have good government.

We were successfully conquered years ago. People now realize that 'of by and for the people' is an unrealized concept here.

This is exactly why term limits are so important.
Once in, these leeches will do ANYTHING to stay in, cause the perks are so available.

Death to all politicians.

I heard on the radio that Mandeville wanted the documents back from the auditors since the audit was over. The company that did the audit was unable to comply because the FBI subpoenaed the documents. That does not bode well for Eddie Price.

Eddie Price, Tom Buell, and Ray Nagin should be hanged in a public forum.
Not only for malfeasance, but for arrogance.

According to a story on WWL tonight at 5, the auditor was ordered under subpoena to turn over all documents pertaining to the investigation, and, if I caught the date correctly, this took place in mid-July. This would make sense, as the Mayor and his schoolyard buddies have had it on their desks for several weeks, as they were being allowed to respond.

The guy is toast. He needs to just give it up and hire a lawyer.

I agree he needs a lawyer, the sooner he can plea guilty to a lesser crime the sooner he can do his time and get it over with. If he maintains his current attitude he could very well end up doing many years behind bars.

Well, to correct this, term limits ought to be expanded to ALL public service time.
IOW, whatever office you initially run for, say a state congressman with a 3 term limit (12 years total....wayyyy to long!) the 12 years would be ALL you could "give" to the public.

Actually, I would like to see it maxed at 6 or 8 years.
No hopping to other public positions with a fresh set of term limits. In fact, no other public position allowed regardless if it is "protected" by term limits or not!

Flyinbayou, under your scenario, not even Barrack the ladder climber, the chosen one, the one for whom we have all been waiting, would be eligible to run for president. We would never have experienced candidates to run for the high offices.

As for my friend, the Mayor of Mandeville, I have been out of town and just hearing of the latest developmnents. I will withhold comment until I know more about what happened.

His reply.

City of Mandeville
Office of the Mayor
Monday, August 11, 2008, 4:42 p.m.

The City has prepared a detailed response to the audit of the State Legislative Auditor's Office that can be read by the public on the State's website. As far as a personal reply to the public, I can say, unequivocally, that I have never intentionally done anything wrong, nor have I done anything that I did not believe was in the best interest of the City of Mandeville. It has been my goal as Councilmember and Mayor these twenty-eight years to do whatever is in Mandeville's best interest and it is regrettable that the auditor's report does not reflect the many accomplishments of my administration.

Mr. Goyneche's call for my resignation is ill-advised. I have done nothing to warrant my resignation and do not believe that would be in the best interest of the City at this time.

In order to respond further, we have made a request to the Legislative Auditor's office to return the documents that were taken from City Hall but they have refused to do so. These documents would allow us to see how the auditor arrived at their conclusions and to see if they are properly based. Until that time, I cannot fully respond without this information. Furthermore, since the audit was also forwarded to law enforcement agencies, it is not appropriate for me to respond at this time.

I will let you know as soon as I am able to retrieve these documents and look forward to responding thoroughly to the Legislative Auditor's Report. In the meantime, please refer to the City's detailed response attached to the Auditor's report, which addresses every issue that we were able to address at this time.

Edward J. Price, III

City of Covington
Office of a Citizen
Wednesday, August 13, 2008, 2:22 p.m.

Mr. Mayor,

You are an embarrassment to the citizenry of St. Tammany Parish.

You have repeatedly been corralled for public drunkenness, and released due to your position.
You have been provided perks due to your position as a public servant, and accepted them without regard to the costs to the taxpayers.
You have bent the laws to serve yourself, and your friends, in your position of Mayor.

You, and your rat bastard cohort Tom Buell, are under Federal investigation for malfeasance, tax evasion, and myriad other criminal activities.

Your position has no legs.
Edward J. Price, II, and Edward J. Price are, or should be, embarrassed and ashamed.

With any justice at all, your future position will be one of grasping your ankles, while an amorous inmate slowly approaches...
