May of 2006. Fitz and Jon Smith and Amarone get into this complete catfight over Gallo wines. The whole thread was a complete train wreck made even funnier by the fact that Jon Smith used to advertise with Fatzo. Jon gave Fatz at least three opportunities to bow out of the thread gracefully and with dignity and Fitz couldn't take it. He HAD to have the last word. I think Jon wound up deleting his account after that.
While not a thread, I received several pms from the owners of The Delachaise asking me not to be so critical of their bar. I never posted them because it is bad nettiquette but it went on for weeks. At one point, they invited to come to the bar to discuss my issues with them. I was like "I don't take this stuff that seriously." Anyway, that was one of the first indications I had that people in the food community listened to what I have to say.

I got a lot of PMs too. A lot of "Let someone know justagirl is in the restuarant when you go"...I never did.
The worst PM was Prohibitionist asking me to take him to dinner. Needless to say, I didn't reply.
There were some great, hilarious posts over there. And a lot of recipes. Someday I'll learn to save recipes....someday.

We have a special "Omega 13" counter-measure here to deal with the "Prohibitionists" and their ilk. No one is quite sure how it works, but it does.

How could you go to dinner with a guy who doesn't drink?
I got a few of those "make yourself known as bam bam next time you stop in" pms too. I never took advantage of them. Unless of course you count Stein's which I pretty much abuse as my own personal high end 24/7 convenience store. And I would have done that anyway due to its proximity to my abode and the fact that they have awesome stuff.
Does anyone remember the thread and this is going back three or four incarnations where TF took Tootsie to town for eating her steak well done? I can't remember the specifics but I remember laughing for weeks over that one.

OMG, that was hilarious Bam. I think of here every time I head to the Chiropractor, I have to go by this store called "All The Best" on W Esplanade in Metairie...wasn't that her sign off..something like that.

bam bam, I don't think I ever read the thread you talked about in another post... where you and TF got into it. lol, sorry I missed it.
While I never identified myself in a restaurant after receiving those pm's, I did take blatant disadvantage of Lorin's faux paus with New Orleans Magazine, and am enjoying a free six month subscription. lol
There's one or two threads I'm GLAD are gone. A food critic that all of ya'll LOVE.. and is, (imho) probably the admin here... accused a very hard working Chinese American family (that worked for over two years to reopen) of bigotry simply because her nose was out of joint because WE - the unwashed masses - had to tell her about the yummy Asian menu.
Supreme arrogance. A terrible accusation to make to people who are struggling against all odds to rebuild.
Anyhoo.... I may have just sealed my fate here, if I'm right and her highness is the admin here.
In that event.... good luck, ya'll!
I still love the "vodka that vapid spirit" and the "which is more important to the city Commander's reopening or the Superdome reopening" threads. There were many others involving tf that were really funny because of his complete lack of food knowledge. I counted 61 posts deleted during the vodka episode. The PM's from tf were too funny on that one...............

HAHAHAHA - No, I didn't delete my account but I really think that was the beginning of the end for the Fitz forum. He was unable to interact with anyone in a non-negative tone after that. As I recall my argument was that "I have tried the Gallo wine, I have had to sell the Gallo wines as a wholesaler and I don't think Gallo wines have soul or merit. That is my OPINION." Apparently my opinion was wrong, thus the fighting ensued. I held my ground, took the high road and still consider it "a victory."

I completely agree. It was a precursor to the vodka thread, the real martini is made with gin thread and Commander's vs. The Saints thread. The Commanders thread, incidentally, had deep implications that the posters did not initially get and therefore, Fitzmorris had to expand beyond the literal to let us dumbasses know he really meant what was more important the restaurant community or the Saints?
Didn't Fatzmorris offer to a tasting of Gallo wines with you, provided it wasn't at your store? As if Gallo wines taste worse in Mid City than they do in Abita Springs.

The "How to boil water" thread. It goes back a way. It went poof as soon as the principal got back in town from a cruise. I think "How to make ice" was also in that series.

He did and I declined because I already knew what the swill tasted like. At the time Gallo was trying BIG TIME to buy their way into NOWFE and I took personal enjoyment out of the whole tete-a-tete
That's back when Gadfly was posting, man was he a pain in TF's ass. I know him and might ask him to come post here. He's a funny dude.
the New Orleans Jericho thread. It placed at the top on google if you typed in jericho new orleans.
While I never identified myself in a restaurant after receiving those pm's, I did take blatant disadvantage of Lorin's faux paus with New Orleans Magazine, and am enjoying a free six month subscription. lol
I took advantage of that too, but I actually received more invoices than actual magazines during that time.
The Saints and commanders thread was priceless.

What? No discussion of the German U-Boats in the gulf fiasco.
I think he still regrets the day he began that debate.

Yeah, like anything written by anyone on that forum (or just about any other forum) was worth even a second thought much less even considering saving for posterity. Here's a suggestion: make new entertainment because rehashing old threads/discussions/ideas is about as boring and as tired as it gets.
Hey jackass, when I signed up there were about 19 of us here. We started some topics in an effort to keep the conversation going until the word got out and everyone showed up. Now that the cat drug you over here, we can go back to posting topics that meet your exacting standards.
