I meant to order some lenses, time slipped away.
Now I'm in a jam & need them rather quickly.
My eye doc just prescribed a new brand that are harder to find
- I think it's Bio Med or something like that.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

899-3937, they can overnight if you get your order in by 2.30pm. THey didn't used to charge for shipping if you ordered over a certain dollar ammount, but I don't know if it still applies. But, you'll need your Doctor signed Rx to prove your prescription. It's Uptown Eyecare on Magazine. They could even have it shipped to your destination if that's better for you.
*I know it seems obvious that you need a Dr signed Rx but you would not believe how many people just don't get it.
Disclaimer: I don't wear contacts...but I used to work there.

I've used http://www.1800contacts.com/ for years and years. They're quick and cheap. You can either fax in your Rx, mail it, or they will call your ophthalmologist for you. David has very complicated lenses and they handle his very well.

Thanks JaG & Barbara.
Wish I'd seen this earlier, but I am getting right on this!
I really appreciate the advice!

Wal Mart also keeps most brands and prescriptions in stock. I also find them to be the cheapest.
Edited to add-I should have read more carefully, I don't think they have Bio Medics, sorry.

When I wore them I used visiondirect.com.

I use www.coastalcontacts.com I find them cheaper than Wal-Mart(at least their website, which is just 1-800-Contacts with a Wal-Mart logo).
When I first began ordering contacts online, I didn't understand about the Rx either JAG. I just figured who would try to order contacts in a certain prescription if they didn't need them? It's not like contacts are a narcotic or something.

globe I think a lot of people think the same way. Just like I can't take your Rx for Vicodin, you can't wear my contacts. You can't refill your Rx if your doctor doesn't have refills on it, even though you know that's what you take. Same for contacts. The Rx has to be validated every year. It's law in La that your Rx expires each year. So just because someone walks in with a box that says their Rx is xyz doesn't mean anyone will fill it, it absolutely has to be a valid, current Rx signed by the doctor. Over wearing of contacts, wearing the wrong Rx, or any other senario is just bad, bad, bad for you, like taking the wrong Rx.
When I worked at Uptown Eyecare, I had to explain this to a lot of people.

Actually, it was Wal Mart that saved my butt recently during one weekend in Mobile. I was at a B & B and the next morning went to put in my lenses.
WTF? No right lens in the case! I called all over, no one would really help me. The last doctor I spoke with in person told me about 3 times that possibly Wal Mart would have it. I didn't want to go to Wal Mart. But I did.
I called first & explained my situation. I just so happened to have the written & signed prescription with me. They didn't have my lens power in stock to sell to me, but they gave me one sample. That's all I needed!
That woman was thrilled to help me & was so sweet.
She really saved the day & my weekend!
I was hoping Wal Mart my come thru for me again - but the one I went to yesterday - well, they were clueless. I'll be making more inquiries on the suggestions you all gave me. Thanks!
