if my excitement is due to the Yankees acquiring Ivan Rodriguez or if it is due to the fact that the start of college football season is less than a month away?

Bam, you must be crazy to ask this question here. What do you think is the %age of baseball fans in NO? I'm guessing less than one.
It's all football all the time (although the Hawnitz have made huge inroads).
How does the Green Wave's punter look? Is he ready for all of the action he'll get this year?
Somebody on the TOB made the observation, that if you thought the Saints corners sucked last year, as of now it looks like the starting cornerbacks this year will be Young and Gay.

I should add that this poll was asked in a very humourous way but the admin decided to do some TF-like editing.

Football is the harbinger of Fall. Cool, crisp autumn air pierced by the sound of the referee's whistle as the dull thud of the kickoff distracts your attention from your drink and raises you from your seat, breaking the clasp of your companion's hand as you spring into the air with a gutteral roar of excitement, anticipation and hope.
Baseball is the hot, humid, bug infested air momentarily enlivened by a hit every half hour which does nothing but disturb your nap.
I vote Football!

That is very moving. Did you write it or are you quoting someone else? I do agree with the sentament.

Baseball is the sweet summer long romance right before you head off to school. College football is the hot sweatty chick you have a one night stand with after hooking up at Pure.
Each of course has their place.

Jon Bon Jovi's Arena bowl.
Bam Bam, give me a report on the USA Today's top 25 by tomorrow?
We can fight all day about college football, but at the end of the day I will admit that USC and Oklahoma will be undefeated come december.

Reasonable analogy. Baseball is perfect (at least in the National League where there is no dumb DH rule). Football is ok, but not near as enjoyable fan experience in my view.

Which sport is a BJ on the Jersey shore?
It is a Yankees game mixed in with some poker and then some college football, pro football and horse racing.

Wrote it. Momentary inspiration. But really, how can you live in the Deep South and not get excited about football season. To me, it is the first glimpse of hope that our long, sticky summer will eventually end... in 2 or 3 more months.
