What qualifies Helena Moreno to run for US Congress?

Is it the fact that she was born in Mexico then minored in Spanish at Southern Methodist University in Dallas? Is it that supposedly her campaign is backed by Benson? Is it that she interned for former First Lady Hillary Clinton? Or am I missing something.....why is she running? Does she have a platform? I realize we need to replace Dollar Bill, but surely there's a better candidate than Helena Moreno.

I really can not answer any of those questions. If she can serve out a term with a power ranking of 0 the she is still better. It is pretty sad when one has a congressman with a negative power ranking.

If in fact Benson is backing her, and still maintains good relations with Arnie who will be running for mayor, and HM wins, then Benson would be be in good shape.

Shouldn't we be asking what qualifies Bill Jefferson to run for US Congress? She has a clean slate and with name recognition she may even have a chance to win. Anyone is better than Dollar Bill.

I already know Bill's story and yes, we need someone else. But I'd like to know what her platform is. No, I'm not going to vote for Bill, but I'd still like to know what I'm getting into. I guess not everyone cares about their vote like I do.

Since no one else seems to know what her plan is, I take it she doesn't have one. I'd like a candidate with an agenda, one that's good for the people.

Yes she would be better than Billy boy, it would be ashame if she ends up being the best candidate that this area could put up.

I don't think there's any chance Helena Moreno will end up being the best we can do. What about James Carter? I believe he is honest, and he has the support of Karen Carter Peterson, who (unbelievably) lost to Jefferson in the last go-round and decided not to run again.

I think that people do care about their vote. However, they often vote for someone for the wrong reason. I honestly can't believe that Jefferson's constituents voted for him because they thought he was an excellent representative.
