What products that make cooking easier or faster, will you just not use (even in a pinch)? Several come to mind for me, flour based pie crust, lasagna noodles (No problem with other dried or premade pasta, but never those thick lasagna noodles), spaghetti sauce, bottled vinagrette.

Canned or bottled "stock." Yuck.

I agree with you about the prefab stocks. I've never found one that is any good. I gave them up a while ago. It does limit what I can cook as I don't really take the time to make my own. I sometimes get a bit from a chef friend of mine but mostly I cook stuff that doesn't need it.

One of my favorite time savers when I'm pressed to fix dinner during the week is the fresh chopped onion/pepper/celery/garlic in the plastic containers in the produce section. Really speeds me up when trying to time dinner with 16 year old daughter that MUST eat the second she gets home from school, usually around 6:30.

Check the sell by dates, and get the freshest. It does not have much garlic, so I tend to add more fresh once I have things going.
