I read that the very low levels of Alzheimer's disease in India is believed to be because of the heavy use of tuRmeric in foods. Besides Indian cuisine, do you make any dishes using tuRmeric?

I am addicted to curry in all forms...must be the Irish/english/scottish blood. That said I can't go a week with out a dose of some kind. Most curries, epecially Indian, have tumeric.
And doesn't French's mustard have tumeric in it?

I take Turmeric pills, as does my cancer dog (for its anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory benefits)
when cooking with it, I usually just use it in curries; but I have also used it with jamaican jerk and baked chicken dishes.

Yes, it does. Sadly, the French mustard imported into the US is not as strong as the French mustard sold in France. I don't know if the level of tuRmeric is affected though.
I don't like Indian food, so that's why I'm looking for other recipes for using tuRmeric.

Cafe au lait, I meant "French's" the hot dog mustard. I always thought it had a healthy dose of turmeric.
I was first exposed to curry when I was 20 yo and ordered "curried chicken salad" at a lunch place in Natchez, MS. The chicken was dressed in curry based mayo with inclusion of yellow raisins and chopped celery and pecans. I was awestruck by the taste and have been chasing it eversince.
I have to recommend using it at home because most cooks seriously over use it.

Mat & Naddie's had a curried chicken salad on their menu years ago...that's where I got the idea to do my own. I like to serve curried chicken salad on top of endive leaves for passed apps.

Sorry Spudly, I need to read more closely. I have heard that mustard from France has tuRmeric, or at least it has the same brain benefits as tuRmeric. I will research this further.

Let me apologize for misspelling it - I am leaving out the "r" which I read is a common mistake. As an anal-retentive about spelling and grammar, I am embarrassed. :o

Turmeric helps with spelling too!
I add it to the cream sauce that I use for steamed mussels. Just a little to add color. You cannot really taste it in the sauce.

Oh gosh that sounds delicious! I've used it here and there, when a recipe calls for it, but I'm afraid to experiment.... it's kind of strong.
cafe' - if I don't pronounce it, I see no reason to include it... lol And nah... not noticable at ALL. hahaha
