Just looking for ideas/suggestions on a place to have a casual party for 80 people-max. I want to avoid having it at home because cleaning organizing etc...(or maybe i'm just lazy). It could be a bar, a restaurant or other venue. I would like people to be able to drop in etc... not a formal reception style deal. Drinks more important--food-light pick up style. Any suggestions welcomed!

what about the second flood space about Savvy Gourmet?
Napoleon House's Empereur's Appt?
Seance Room at Muriel's?
Claire's Bar/courtyard and pool

On the extreme casual end, the Bulldog on Canal has a private party rental area out by their patio. They might even rent the patio out if more space is needed.

Speaking of which, the very same Bulldog is hosting a fund raiser this Friday at 5:30 pm for Melanie Talia who is running for Criminal Court Judge against Darryl Derbigny. Tickets are $50 per person and I would encourage anyone who wants to solve the crime problem in this city to attend.

Upstairs at Ernst is a great space.
Acme has a nice small room upstairs, too.
Also consider Pat O's on the River(if it's still open-?)
Didn't someone suggest Lucy's upstairs? or patio? (I don't see it here anymore, maybe I'm confusing posts)

I have attended a few parties at Ernst and they do a great job.

I hosted a party at Lucy's Retired Surfer's bar on Tchoupitoulas and had a wonderful time. They have a private room upstairs called the attic. We had about 85-90 persons and it was perfect. Their web site has a link to the pricing, and I found them competitive. The service was suberb and all our guests had a great time.

Would also 2nd Ersnt. I've attended several private parties there and I always enjoyed it. Also, do see if Pat O's on the River is still open in Jax. Been to many functions there and the view is fantastic.

Is there a particular area that you want to stay within, or out of? (Downtown, uptown, Kenner, Metairie, Westbank, Northshore, etc.)

What about the Parish at the HOB. It is avilable for special functions on nights they don't have music scheduled.

RC Bridge lounge has a nice space too, and it's pet friendly.

if you want something in the quater, Patout's and also Tropical Isle have spaces you can rent out. Both with nice balconies.
