Does anyone know if they are making the big custard pies? I haven't seen them recently. I get a craving once in a while, but I don't remember when or where I've last seen them. I don't see them on the website.

I haven't seen them lately, but the last place I did see one was
Breaux Mart, I think. I don't recall how long ago.
Their website may have the answer.
Hey, how's the baby girl doing?

The storm of '05 did in the old ovens. Only doing the fried now.
The small 5" baked in the tin were my favs. Not a fan of fried pies. Unless filled with meat...

15 months old, and we are having a blast! It's so much fun having a baby in the house again. Thanks so much for asking.
Oyster, say it ain't so! Man, do I miss those things. I thought that was their signature. I'm not a big fan of the fried pies either, but those custard pies were delicious (whether a whole one or the slice wrapped in cellophane you could buy at the counter in the convenience store).
I'm going to email them.

I emailed Hubig's yesterday and received a reply...
No, we don't make the custard pies right now. In fact, we aren't making any round (baked) pies. And we haven't figured out a way to fry a good custard pie!
The ovens weren't irreparably damaged, there are a number of reasons we haven't brought back the round pies. We haven't ruled it out for the future but don't have specific plans right now; we're taking it month by month. Sorry I can't be more specific!
Thanks for your interest,
