Thanks for those pics. I spent many a weekend on the Tickfaw growing up. We'd put in at Blood River, Dad would put some Herb Albert in the built-in 4-track tape deck and we were off! Sometimes Mom would pack a fried chicken dinner from Joe-D's market in BR (no Popeye's back then), but on lucky days, we'd take the boat all the way across Maurepas to Middendorf's. One particular Sunday is forever seared into my memory because I had the definitive trout meuniere of my youth there. Haven't been there since Chef Pfeiffer took over and these pics make my want to go back. Wonder if he'll do an Oktoberfest menu - his would be one that would actually be good. Maybe I will go in October and wear my lederhosen ...or maybe not! :eek:

Thanks, went out there last year for some boiled crabs at Crab Trap and saw the construction starting (I'm guessing) on Frenier Landing.

Yes. No big loss there. The best thing about it was the bait. From what I heard they had a couple/few different owners and it was not successful for any of them. I heard praise from few but not from most and my meals there were just plain bad.

OK, we resumed our trip today with a tour of Tangipahoa and St. Tammany Parishes from Ponchatoula to Madisonville. Mrs. Fury loves to find out of the way cemeteries and we discovered several today. Lunch at Friends on the Tchefuncte in Madisonville and a visit to the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Museum capped our day on the North Shore.

You forgot to tell the best part of the trip. When we got to the wildlife area I took a pic and walked a few steps. A gigantic nutria scared the crap out of me. I gasped and it ran. Jeeves had a very good laugh.
