We had lunch at Joe Segreto's Eleven 79 yesterday. The rain was coming down in buckets as we arrived, but we braved the elements and alighted from the vehicle (police parlance) and entered the building drenched to our skivvies! We were immediately brought table cloths with which to dry ourselves. Mrs. Fury wore hers as a mantilla since the poor sweetie was shivvering. We ordered some interesting things. Mrs. Fury had a super Italian sausage and peppers dish, I had the sandwich del giorno, pot roast on wonderful bruschetta with lettuce and tomato and a seasoned aioli. Our guest, Timmy, a crew member from one of the Carnival Cruise ships had calamari, crab cakes.....which were sent back because they were a bit "off", and a few appetizers to pass around. We were very pleased with the food (except for the crab cakes....leftover, frozen crabmeat maybe?)* and the service was par excellence! Eddie Sapir stopped by our table to say hello and looked quizzickly at our drenched appearance, but made no remark about dear Mrs. Fury shivvering 'neath her table cloth.
(*They took the remainder back, didn't charge for them and noted our remarks, offered to comp a sub.)
