Husband and I are celebrating our 12th anniversary this weekend. If you could pick one place to go, what would it be, price no object?? We would like to go someplace we have not been to recently so Tommy's, Herbsaint, la boca, Mila, patios, are all out.

Price no object....absolutely Restaurant August or Stella!
To me, the finest in the city right now.

Both good choices; I would add Cuvee. (And Rio Mar, but that's just because I love that place).

Hard to argue with August or STella, but my favorite place to go (not as fancy as those 2, but I love it) is Brigtsen's. Would also consider Pelican Club, K'Pauls, Cuvee, Muuriel's and Mila.

I agree with all of you above, but when they said price no object, I figured they wanted a place they would not normally go to. I think Stella, August and Cuvee would fit into their bill. Don't know, just guessing by the one's they said they do not want to go to.
Stella and August being far more expensive then the ones mentioned, not that price has everything to do with making a special night.

I highly second Brigtsen's. You may find a more comfortable place, but, IMHO, you will not find better food. And it is romantic, personal, and quintessential local.

I just don't see it on that level.
I have to go with Stella for your choice and they seem to be a notch above everyone else right now based on what I hear. August still seems to have the service hiccups.
I have to make the big "choice" at the end of this month for my wife's birthday dinner. I have it down to Stella and Delmonico. I am leaning toward Stella because she has never been, but I am worried that will be too much for her.

Stella! Request a corner table, kinda out of the way of the rest of the dining room. Though Martinique and Cuvee (the table in the front window) would be excellent choices. Never been to August, so no opinion there.

Really!?!?!
That would be my choice of the places suggested so far. I still like getting the corner booth at the Rib Room along the windows facing Royal Street.

I have been told by a few people that the tasting menu paired with wines is the way to go at Stella. Does anyone know how much this cost?

You need to find a guy who will remedy that.

sadly it was K-flooded.
you might also want to try the wine pairing at Le Meritage, where you can order either small or large portions of items on the menu.

Maybe if you fixed dessert more often a guy would take you there.

I love Brigtsen's, but for a special night I'd choose Martinique or Cuvee.
