My friend works at 1010 Common and I'm in the Warehouse District. I am looking for something between here and there for lunch tomorrow. Anyone have any ideas? I like Mila but I only have an hour which includes the walk to and fro. We've been to The Store (love the crawfish risotto) but I am trying to find something new. Any thoughts?

That would make sense. Another possibility is, if open on Monday, the Bon Temps Cafe at Magazine and Poydras. You could also try Liborio's on Magazine. It's good Cuban. There's P & G for fried seafood on Baronne. If you want a pretty good Cuban for a good cause, there is Covenant Cafe in 1515 Poydras. The food is pretty good and Covenant House is a good cause.
I would not suggest the Crystal Room buffet at Le Pavillion. The salad bar is decent enough but the hot food is to be missed.

I forgot about Lil Dizzy's. That's an idea. Bon Ton is wonderful but too expensive for this little lunch party. I never heard of Covenant Cafe, thank you for that info. Someone suggested (on nola.com) Welty's Deli. I don't think I have ever heard anyone comment on that place. Anyone? I'm going to present these suggestions to my friend and let her decide. I'll let y'all know how lunch went sometime tomorrow afternoon. Mmm Lil Dizzy's fried chicken...

Mrs. F, MFDC swears by Welty's Deli. I think he gets the grilled chicken salad the most, but says everything there is good. He really loves it. I think about $10 a peep. He's talked about it so much I told him I'd meet him there one day.

I had a few recs on nola to go to Welty's. I think I might try it, but I really want Lil Dizzy's. I guess it will depend on my friend. I'll ask if she wants healthy (deli) or fried deliciousness & other local yummies.

Everything sounds good at Welty's but the food is sorely lacking in execution. Very boring and I am usually sick of whatever order about 1/2 way through.

it's hot as hades, I'd chillax over sushi at Horinoya on Poydras.

Cuvee has 3 courses $25. I think it's somewhat of a sleeper for lunch. Never full, fairly quick in and out.

There is no way at all I could get this girl to eat sushi.
jodyrah - $25 is a bit more than I'd like to spend on this lunch
bambam - thanks for the heads up. I think we'll end up at Lil Dizzy's.
I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Oh well looks like Welty's it is. She said it's too hot to walk to Lil Dizzy's.

Ended up at Welty's. Man that place gets packed at noon. Had a half a ham sandwich with a cup of cream of mushroom soup. The ham was very thin and tasty. The kaiser roll was fresh. My friend said her chips were slightly stale but she loved the club sandwich. It was huge. They don't skimp on the meat. Much better than Bayou Eatery! Thank y'all for the suggestions.

Mrs. F, MFDC said the one he gets the most at Welty's is the shrimp remoulade salad. The yellowfin tuna salad & the curried chicken salad.
