Hubby and I are coming back to N.O. for our anniversary (scene of the crime) and have decided we would like to stay about three nights - each in a different place. I know I want to do one night at the House on Bayou Road and am looking for similar quality places for the other two nights. I looked at the web site for the Columns, but that looks a little iffy to me. Bed and breakfasts, French Quarter hotels anything with some charm and panache would be nice. Any recommendations from the forum members would be helpful.

Many thanks,
Jen

Bingo. They have some really good rates in July and August. Someone told me that saw $119 a night.

Someone else help me remember the name of the quaint smaller place at the lower end of the quarter that lots of locals recommend. Local owners where most of the staff has been there an average of 20 plus years.

We hope to be in for the 28th - 31st of June and the Roosevelt sounds wonderful. I just have to get a more tentative schedule from the hubby who may or may not be delayed in Bahrain due to new security measures..Our anniversary dates seems to be hinged on Saudi red tape :(

These are all great suggestions. Thanks so much.

That is the one I was thinking of. I have heard nothing but good about this place.

I'm with Art and BTG re; Le Richelieu. Quiet part of the Quarter, close to French Market, Marigny, Riverfront Streetcar Line, excellent staff, FREE park-it-yourself guarded parking.

I've stayed at many places in New Orleans over 30 years, but once we "found" Le Richelieu, 2 stays before "K", and stays afterwards, it's become our "regular". Came highly recommended by many on the other old site.

I gotten to like that "end" of the quarter a little more than the crowded Canal Street end. However, I admit there is fine dining at both ends.
