Over the course of my life, I have never really known what to say to black people. However, since the inauguration all I do is go up to black people and start talking about how wonderful Obama is and wind up having a 35 minute conversation with them.

I'm up in there with 'ya, bro. (see how easy it can be?)

It occured to me that I should have been wearing an OBAMA shirt while walking around the Quarter on Saturday.

I wore a Geaux W shirt in the quarter last spring during Jazzfest just to piss off anyone it offended.

After just a few days, I must say, Obama is looking to be worse than I thoiught he would be. It will be a long 4 years, but this is a 4 year thing. He will make sure of that. His uber-liberal positions will not make all who voted for him happy. Many of those who somewhat blindly voted for "change", will not be happy with the changes. His election was clearly a case of style over substance.

Just a prediciton, and yes, I could certainly be wrong. But, I doubt it.

My assessment boils down to the fact that so many people (all races) wanted to see the first black president, that the quality of the person elected didn't matter. The only thing that mattered to them was that he was a black.

The Canadian article I posted, repectfully sums it up the best for me.

With all of the major problems we have at the moment with people losing jobs and what is one of his first things he does......he is reversing our stance on federal abortion funding etc..............yes, that is sure to make the majority of Americans happy. Stem cell research modifcations maybe, but overseas federal funding of abortions??? If he ran on that he would not have gotten elected.

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man." - Joe Biden, Vice president of the United States

I am not really worried about this one. On principle the idea of paying for abortions in other countries with the tax dollars of American workers stinks, but the actual cost to the above mentioned taxpayers should be minimal - $200/$300 per abortion. I would expect that the actual medical people involved would be NGO volunteers such as Doctors Without Borders thus keeping the cost to the taxpayer at a minimum. It should certainly cost much less then his coronation.

The Trillion in new government spending is of great concern to me.

My main point was not the cost per se......however, those $$$ need to stay at home. If we had more $$ to fund here for the cliinics etc....maybe we would have less problems to solve locally.
