For the 1st time since I have been 11yrs old I am in an official news blackout. No FNC, no sportscenter, no talkradio, no times pic. Nothing but 24 and ppv movies until the end of the week.
Trying to ignore it all.
I am going to get a chuckle out of reading some of these pitty stories of people from around the country(including N.O.) loading up onto busses and going to D.C. with no tickets to events or places to stay.
Going to be alot of time spent on those busses.
I switched over to the Spanish station, but then a piece about "El Presidente Obama" came on, so I am now on TIVO and DVD.

I am trying to use all of this to conjure up a funny Mardi Gras costume but each idea I come up with would probably get me shot.
Time to head to the mountain. As in Mt. Billy

"Obamathon", indeed. It's been absolutely nauseating.... Watched my 2 football games yesterday, then shut off the television.

We're in the same state you are. My wife has been "news hound" all her life. From 1975 thru 1990, she worked as a "girl-Friday" for the News Anchor at Global TV (Peter Newmann) in Canada. He is (was) sort of the Walter Cronkite of one of the Canadian Networks.
She hasn't watched or listened to a news broadcast since the election day tragity. When we get our daily paper, the first (news) section is trashed, and she reads local happenings, wine, food and comics, and then does Suduku and crosswords. Also she has gone from 6-10 hours of talk radio per day, to "ZERO".
This week is literally "Hell" for her.
I had to add CD's to my list of alternate entertainment as well, since it is all over the radio as well.

And ALOT of time spent standing in line to go to the bathroom- Joe Scarborough (?) said that there was ONE porta-potty per each SIX THOUSAND people.
Have fun in D.C.

Who is this Obama of whom you speak??:D
I've been doing tons of reading. The past couple of days, I've been perusing Peter Schiff's book on the financial meltdown. Interesting stuff from one of the guys who rightly nailed a prediction about the sub-prime debacle years ago. I may finish reading it on the flight to my new expat digs in Central America.
I have only one word for you, my friends: commodities.

I hope you were able to see CP3 bottom out a buzzer beating 3-pointer to give the Hornets the victory yesterday. If not I'm sure it will make the top 10 plays on ESPN today.
He's unbelievable!
I escaped the Obamatrizing yesterday by going to see Defiance and then watching the Hornets.
I couldn't figure out why the theater was so crowded and then I remembered, "oh yeah. It's a famous guy's birthday today. Robert E. Lee"! Born Jan.19, 1807.

I watched Lost reruns on Sci Fi channel last night. I did switch over to watch 24 and had some Obama stuff during the commercials, but on Sci Fi there was only one instance of Obama, and it was a commercial for Freedomcorps or USACorps.
...and now I am caught up on Lost enough to know what is going on!
I watched the Bachelor last night, pretty damn lame, I know. At least there were plenty of pretty women. Much better than the Obamathon

You have my condolences! My wife made me sit through it last week!! Yes the girls are pretty, but they are almost all crazy - LOL
I will agree that it is better then the Obamathon.

I was unfortunately at Slidell Memorial Hospital, visiting my MIL.
Imagine if you can...... strolling down the hallways with EVERY EFFING' TV tuned to CNN....
Honestly, I had to leave. And did so. *cringing*
One has to wonder about the "media". They're apparently ignoring the fact that almost as many of us voted AGAINST Obama, as those who voted for him. Doesn't seem to matter to 'em. Ramming him down our throat. Makes me resentful.
Good luck to him. I don't like the guy, nor his cabinet so far..... but still wish him good luck.

You will not believe the attitude of one of my co-workers husbands employees over in the city. He actually showed his wrist to him and said see that, see that color, yep black, get used to it being in charge now, we are in control. No kidding.
I really do not care about the color issue/race issue. But I am tired of the slave references, the reparations etc.............that is what bothers me. It is also not what MLK tried to bring to the world. It is over and beyond equality.

Perhaps someone should remind him that he is only half in charge.
