View Full Version : Barack Obama broken promises
It appears that PE Obama is not living up to all of his promises.
"Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), explaining his plan to reduce the influence of special interests, made what sounded like a clear-cut pledge to bar the more than 35,000 registered federal lobbyists from ever working in his administration. " - "They won’t work in my White House!" Obama has said repeatedly this week on his Iowa bus tour.

...but
William J. Lynn III, Obama's choice for deputy defense secretary, is a former Pentagon official who now is senior vice president for government operations at Raytheon Co. Lynn hasn't been a registered lobbyist since July, meaning he can't personally lobby Congress or the White House. In the first three months of 2008, his lobbying team reported spending $1.15 million to influence issues involving missiles, sensors and radar, advanced technology programs and intelligence funding.

I guess Obama can say that this man works at the Pentagon and not "his White House" - there is always an anaswer for eveything.

I am enjoying the tax issues of the guy he picked for Treasurer myself!
on a similar note I had to laugh when they said the O'bama's were moving up to Blair House in prep for the White House move. I could not get the theme from the Jefferson's out of my head....LOL

Check this out:
According to reports, when the Politico's Jonathan Martin asked the president about his nominee for deputy secretary of defense, William Lynn, Obama refused to answer, saying he was not there to take questions.
"I came down here to visit. I didn't come down here -- this is what happens. I can't end up visiting you guys and shaking hands if I am going to grilled every time I come down here," the president said.
Pressed further by the Politico reporter about his Pentagon nominee, Obama turned more serious, putting his hand on the reporter's shoulder and staring him in the eye.

He is the Anointed One! He truely expects them to treat him like people having an audience with the Pope! Not as "one of the boys".
"I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes." - President Obama
"Yesterday President Obama signed legislation expanding the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), relying largely on a 156-percent increase in the federal cigarette tax to fund it. As Americans for Tax Reform notes, Obama's support for the SCHIP bill violates his campaign promise not to raise taxes on families earning less than $250,000 a year."

Looks like I will be buying my cigarettes online and/or at Indian Reservations. I would be more then happy to shell out an extra 10 cents a pack to help the children, but not 62 cents.
I thought only rich people smoked.
"WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama will break a campaign pledge and sign a budget bill laden with millions in lawmakers' pet projects, administration officials said."

Friday, I saw an "Impeach Obama" bumper sticker. man, do I need one of those (and a t shirt, too, to where in Austin later this month; that will really piss off some people).
I now understand the way liberals felt about W. They hated him, of course. While I do not hate Barrack Obama, I totally dislike President Obama. He is shaping up to be far worse than the totally inept James Earl Carter.
The bright side of all of this is that he is certainly looking like a 1 termer.
The bright side of all of this is that he is certainly looking like a 1 termer.
I hope so - this is agony.

If he is not a 1 termer, this nation, as we knew it, is finished.
Seriously. We will have seen our better days. Kind of like old towns that dried up after in interstate opened up 10 miles south or north. Except it will belike that all over. Many vacant buildings (at least thats a good sign for the many who find themselves newly homeless), few jobs, soaring inflation, general anarchy.
Sad.
You are very optimistic Turbo, I am pretty sure he can accomplish what you suggest in one term. Maybe before mid term elections even at the rate he is going.

Thanks for the laugh, Shep. I needed it.
Sometimes, i need a little perspective (and I really did get a good laugh from your post).

Obama's presidency would be funny if the joke wasn't on us.
Way too many people with the right to vote in the USA.
If you don't pay taxes, you should not vote. Ifyou are on govt. assistance, you should not vote.
If you don't own real estate, you should not vote.
I'm all for splitting this once great country in two. Let's let the conservatives run a country and let the liberals run an adjoining country. Let's see who is begging for help in 10 years.
