During the Bowl Season, I am left with little choice but to continue betting favorites. It hasn't even been all that profitable for me. But what the heck?
South Florida -13 over Memphis. Strong play as So. Fla gets a virtual home game and although Memphis is purportedly a bowl team, it is only because half of the FBS gets bowl bids.
TCU -2.5 over Boise St. TCU's only losses are to BCS teams Utah and OKlahoma. They shutdown Utah for 3 quarters. I think Gary Patterson wins the coaching matchup here.
Florida St -5 over Wisconsin. FSU has been very strong in these low level bowl games the last few years. They get a favorable matchup here as they play strong run defense against a one dimensional Big Ten opponent.
Missouri -12 over Northwestern. Mizzou puts up 55 points in a non-competitive game.
Rice -3 over Western Michigan. Rice gets a virtual home game at Reliant Stadium. WMU completely fell apart against Ball St in their season finale.
Boston College -3.5 over Vandy. Strong play here on BC as Vandy like their cross state counterparts, Memphis, has no business being in a bowl game.
Iowa +3.5 over South Carolina. Iowa has been a tough team all year. I hate SC qb play. My first strong dog play.
Ole Miss +4.5 over Texas Tech. The line in this game is dropping fast. Really question TT's motivation here after leaving their season on the field in Norman. I also like Ole Miss QB play with Snead. He makes things happen. Nutt is a big game coach and I think he pulls the upset here. Ole Miss was 8-3 ATS this season. TT only 5-4-1. I think the line drop pulls the game to where the line should be. I still like Ole Miss outright.
UCONN -4 over Buffalo--Great season by Buffalo but UCONN's running game shreds their defense in a boring non-competitive matchup.
Texas -9 over Ohio St. Texas is playing for a split NC. OSU hasn't shown up to a bowl game since the wanning days of the Clinton Administration. Horns roll.
Oklahoma +3 over Florida--I am posting a pick because I figured someone was going to ask. I don't have strong feeling either way. I lean Okla because of the youth in Fla's secondary and b/c the offenses in the SEC this season have been horrible and I don't think Fla is prepared for what is about to hit them. That being said, I can see Fla matching Okla point for point and possibly getting the one or two stops they need late.
