When he didn't show here, I thought he must be Admin. Then I realized Amarone could NEVER exist in anonymity.

One must be very secure with one's sexuality to have man love for Amarone.

He's on his way, he's just checking the weather vein.

I think he is enjoying stirring up things with TOB too much to come over here right now.

We're now on about 96 hours sans Amarone. I need my under $20 a bottle wine rec. And I need it now.

I wonder if he's too busy with the Tales of the Cocktail events to participate on this board?

Not like he didn't get the PM. Three scenarios:

1. Fashionably Late
2. Le Grand Entrance
3. Fingernails Dug Firmly Into The Deck Of The Titanic As It Reaches 90° Vertical.

And the band played on...

Try option 4. He is skeptical about who's running this board. When that is disclosed. Namely, who it is not, he will join us.

Maybe you should send him a PM and ease his concern.

The "who" should not matter, the "how", maybe. So far, no one else is expressing skepticism, only relief.

Hmmmmm. The who should in fact matter. As there is a certain someone who already tried their hand at moderating a food message board without much success. If the who, in this case, is the same who who did in fact moderate a previous incarnation of TOB, then I might expect a reverse exodus in short order.

I didn't miss the post. But I am a lawyer. I have no knowledge of the inner workings/corporate structure of TOB. Let's just say that I could see a certain person, who has a penchant for self-serving bullsh-t, manipulating and distinguishing the phraseology of that post to the point where we have another Saints v. Commanders thread going.

I am on board 120% with what is going on here. But I have a ton of respect for Amarone and if his radar is going off, I am going to take note of that.

And for that, we thank and respect you.
But I have a ton of respect for Amarone and if his radar is going off, I am going to take note of that.
We also have a ton of respect for Amarone's oenological experience and recommendations, but if his participation here is going to be based solely on who's "hosting the party", then we're basically back to where we were at TOB: participation subject to the conditions of an individual.

Clearer heads will eventually prevail, Bam. As long as it takes 15-30 seconds to load a page to read a post from "Yakov Smirnoff" or "Prohibitionist", we'll be satisfied we've done the right thing.

After doing some searching, all perfectly legal, I feel VERY confident based on my knowledge of the inner workings of TOB (and aint nothing there ever changed except the names and locations), as well as my 10 years experience in the local internet scene, that the owner and/or operator of this board is in no way affiliated with anyone related to the past or current folks at TOB.

This board is set up well, the software is paid for with actual money!, the owner is private, the hosting provider is top notch and located in New York. This site is not indicative of any of the usual suspects or even New Orleans in general, and it would not surprise me if the person who built this does not live here or has worked elsewhere such as in California, Texas, or some other more wealthy and tech oriented area.

Who ever did this is an experienced webmaster, new we had a legitimate need, and did us a real solid favor.

Thanks Admin!

I 'll treat ya to lunch at HillBilly any day!

Essentially accurate, with the exception that the server is located in San Jose, CA. If you get there ahead of us, we'll take the combo plate, (brisket sliced, not pulled, please), with beans and slaw, and an unsweet tea.

You're joking, right?

Amarone has problems with the Moderators of EVERY board, sooner or later. Why should he be the only one privy to such information? (If in fact that is the reason)

I'm just curious why the admin here feels the need to be so anonymous? He's certainly vocal. What do you have to hide? And of course, it's your deal if you decide to never reveal who you are.

Why are the services in California? Couldn't find a decent host here in New Orleans?

As for Amarone, he's an idiot, who cares if he is here or not. He's lurking anyway.

Why do you feel the need to be so rude?

How much are you paying for use of this forum?

I have plenty of manners. I'm just posing some questions. See, that's what sucks about message boards sometime. I'm just asking a question. You think I'm being rude? As for paying for the board, I see ads on it. So I guess at some point, along with certain other posts on here that the admin has made, we'll be asked to pay for this thing at some point anyway.

Besides, I've seen you be more than rude on other boards. :)

Now my comment about Amarone, well that was rude, but I meant it that way.

We wanted people to decide whether they liked the forum based on its own merits, not on any pre-disposed notion of "it's so-and-so's board".

Most ISPs are not local to the markets they serve. Ours is in a 24-hour monitored and supported center that happens to be in CA. We went with an outfit we've dealt with for quite some time, and have been very satisfied with.

We have already been offered direct donations, and have so far declined. But if you could make a purchase somewhere that you were already going to make, and a portion of it happened to help support something you found of benefit, at no additional charge, would you really call that "being asked to pay"?

We wanted people to decide whether they liked the forum based on its own merits, not on any pre-disposed notion of "it's so-and-so's board".

But isn't who runs a board like this, part of what makes it what it is? I know alot of people here like to know who owns the restaurants they eat at and don't frequent restaurants based on that, even if the food is "good".

This is true of most ISP's. But there are alot of companies here in New Orleans that could certainly use the business and offer the same level of service that Verio offers if not much, much more. But it's cool. I just feel people should know. Again, that's my just my opinion.

No additional charge?? Someone has to pay all that. But this is the kind of discussion I'm not willing to have on a discussion forum. Wanna meet for lunch? We can talk it over.

Not sure of any reason why. You're fishing with your little trolling motor and you know it. You also are familiar with the Amazon Affiliate program. Because you use it yourself, you know it doesn't raise item prices to pay referrals vs. a non-click-thru. We know who you are (or who you're posing as), and either way, we don't appreciate you raising questions to non-issues here. So, please, go back to sucking up to Leigh over at TOB, where there are at this moment fewer members online than here.

See, I was never hiding. That's the difference though to me.

And anyway, I'm not sucking up to Leigh, he just happens to be a good guy that's trying his hardest to keep a as many people happy as he can on both sides of him.

Someone on here brought up the fact that maybe I/we shouldn't complain because this service is free, but shouldn't that be said of them.

Anyway, me and my little trolling motor are going to putt putt onto other topics and when you have 3.5 years under your belt and this place is still going, we'll go have lunch. Trust, me, I'm not posing as anyone other than myself.
